Any good old fashioned intense exercise will help anybody - any body type lose weight and the Jilian Michaels dvd is good
Adrian Bryant | 06.21.09 - 6:36 pm
Is there any other dvds you recommend besides the ones listed on your website? I though some of Jillian Michaels' dvds would be good to try for burning fat. Also, should your body type (i'm an apple) matter when trying to lose weight? I heard that certain exercises help certain body types better. Thanks in advance!

Jules,
Turbo Jam is a good workout - I have to check with my technical support people as to why it's not listed
Adrian Bryant | 03.23.09 - 9:16 am
Hi,
Prior to these changes on your website, Turbo Jam (TJ) was listed as one of the suggested workouts. I no longer see it listed here. Was it forgotten, or left out for a purpose? If the latter is the case, could you share your reasons why? I wanted to choose between TJ and kettlenetics.
TJ just seems so much more fun, mainly because the music used is more upbeat. Music in exercise videos are usually boring and that's when I lose interest and get bored with working out.
Thank you so much for your reply.

Hi....I am 5'3 and weigh 165 - Which plan do you think I should try? I really want to lose 40 lbs, but I want to start seeing a major difference in a month. I am tired of feeling sluggish and fat - Please help!
DEE
What workout would you recommend for someone like me? Im 14 and weights 176 pounds and im 5 feet 3 inches. Also, most of the workouts requires dumbbell. What can i substitute the dumb bell with? Something i can do on days that i do not have interval workouts. Thanks for the help.
any workout is fine and for dummbells
you can use empty milkjugs and fill them up with water, rocks or sand
I'm 5'5 and 190lbs...I'm 26yrs old and i've tried dieting before but nothing seems to work. I started exercising about a month ago 5 days a week and I still cant lose weight. I do admit that i'm under too much tress and i'm always worrying about every single thing. Can you suggest any diet plan i could follow? And Thank You.
this simple diet will put your mind at ease
as for exercise - just start off following rule #8 on that page I gave you
There were a lot of exercise programs that would help us to gain the best and healthy body that we really want to achieved. But the most important to consider on this is on how safe this to be applied on us and the fact that this should be an effective one.
Hi Adrian,
This is such a great website!
I'm a 25 year old girl- 5'11'' and 150lbs. I am pear shaped and gain weight on my legs and thighs, though have recently put on a little weight on my stomach (!)
My problem is that I have recently started a job with far longer hours than I'm used to, which has constrained even the mildest form of exercise and I have gained an annoying extra 6lbs since I started. I realise that at 5'11", 150 llbs is not overweight, but I am JIGGLY for the first time ever!
I love yoga and practice it 3 to 4 times a week- I was doing Hatha but have now switched to Power Yoga in order to get more of a cardio workout, though it doesn't seem to have changed anything! I'm not a fan of high-intensity workouts, and would therefore like to know what your advice would be to mix things up the other 2 free evenings I have without forcing me onto a treadmill?
I have been following a 40-40-20 approach in my diet for approx 5 weeks as well, and though I noticed a difference in the beginning (dropped 2lbs in 1 week), I seem to have gained it back and have plateaued. I am really stumped as to what to do re my diet as have always been very healthy in my choices. My average daily intake is:
- yogurt and muesli for breakfast
- large chicken/veggie salad for lunch
- meat & vegetables for dinner
I have completely stopped snacking- i suppose the one bad thing I'm aware of is that I have rather heavy dinners, especially after yoga. I have managed to get my caffeine consumption down to 1 coffee and 1 tea a day, and have completely eradicated salt from my diet.
Do you have any suggestions? and thank you in advance!
I believe in a plan with phases for regeneration of your body after intense workouts is best. I have lost 35 pounds with the P90X workout plan. It's comprehensive and works in yoga to give your body some time off. It is not easy but I'm now in the best shape of my life.
