Hi Adrian,
I need your help desperately. I'm 5'3", and I weigh 240lbs. Recently, I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. My doctor has prescribed Metformin to regulate my insulin resistance and aid in weight loss simultaneously. He said the skinny girl in me was dying to emerge. He said if he hadn't weighed me, he would have never guessed that I weigh 240 lbs. That was very inspirational to hear. I'm excited about losing weight and revising my eating habits; however, I don't want my state of health to be contingent upon the medication that I'm taking. I don't know much about working out effectively or how to select the plan that's best for me. I don't eat as many times a day as I should, but I'd like to change that. I'm thinking about purchasing a weighted vest to wear when I work out. Please provide me with so insight on the weighted vest before I invest. I look forward to receiving your feedback on an effective weight loss plan.

Jennifer,

I have to admit I've never helped anyone in your situation but like everyone else...

My best advice for someone of your weight and height is to go to NowLoss.com/50 but also for you...

You may either want to share this program with your doctor to see if it's okay

Hi Adrian!
First I'd like to compliment you on your site! I ran across it unintentionally and am totally impressed by your thoroughness! Your information is well structured and complete. My case is rather unique so I'd like to clarify which process I should be focusing on. I'm a 31 y/o F, 5'2, 178lbs & "juicy". My stomach is rather flat but my major problem areas are my inner thighs and arm flab. However, secondary to cancer, I've been through radiation and chemo which have resulted in radiation induced menopause. Now I'm aware that weight loss and toning are a bit different during menopause due to physiologic changes, so I'm not sure where to start. I currently (approx 2mo.) workout 3-5 days/week with a 10 min treadmill warmup of 2.8mph @ 12" incline and approx. 20 min on home gym focusing on leg extensions and chest presses @ 30lbs 3 sets of 10 reps. Not seeing any spectacular changes, however not sure what to expect. I'm only 31 but my insides qualify for a senior discount! Any advice? Thanks!- Jennifer

#1 - you are doing enough exercise but make sure you do that workout 3-to-4 times a week and dont do it on back to back days and on the other days - you can do other lower intensity workouts like walking at a normal pace for up to 90minutes

#2 - it's normal to get full quick on the protein and veggies b/c fiber + protein + water are all strong ingredients for filling you up fast and suppressing your appetite

#3 - You dont need the extra fiber supplement right now since you are alrady getting fiber (FOR FREE) from all the fruits and veggies you eat

I first want to say that this is a great site.
Second,I just started the lose 20lbs in 30 days diet and I have some questions to ask.
My first question is am I doing enough exercies, I started Monday doing the best weight loss exercise program (the first workout)and have did it both yesterday and today exactly as many times as they said to do it and then I do a 10-20 minute interval workout. Is this enough or should I be doing more? I currently weigh about 160 lbs and am 5'2. I am a pear shape and would like to firm up my flabby arms, butt and legs and lose the 20-30 lbs.
My next question is it says in the diet plan to eat 2 veggies/fruit with the whey before you eat a meal, but by time I eat a piece of veggie/fruit and drink the whey I am full already and can't eat another piece of veggie. Is this normal and should I still eat the other piece even if I am not hungry? Also, I wanted to know if I am taking enough whey through out the day, I drink 3 shakes and each one has 26g of whey protein in it.
My last question is about taking "super seed" (a fiber supplement) it has 80 calories and I was wondering if I should continue using this product or do you think it has to many calories for me.
Thank you,
C.

strawberrybub,

The waist trimmer is not needed and if you want to sweat more - the same effect can be achieved by wearing more clothes or working out in higher temps but what you should do is...

Just increase workout intensity to sweat more & lose more fat permanently (and water weight)

Helen,

Go here for toned legs but use light-to-moderate weights by doing 2-to-3 sets of 8-to-12 reps of 2 exercises there

Hello, I really love your site, it has been helping me soo much.

I have a question:
How do I get toned legs without the calves looking bulky and large?

Tam,

You need to go to NowLoss.com/15 so you can keep losing fat to get rid of bat wings and...

Doing the Exercises for Posture (Back & Shoulders) here will help tone up that area but...

NowLoss.com/15 is most important for losing the back fat

Have you seen actual results from these exercises? I Lost about 30 pounds (15 more to go) and I'm getting married in 5 months. I still have some upper back fat (or "bat wings") and fat in the arm pit area. I don't want this showing when I wear my dress (and it has when I did fittings). I was hoping that if I loss the overall body fat, this part would have minimized by now, but it hasn't. I am so frustrated. I want to be absolutely sure I do the correct free weight excercises (reps, sets and all) to get rid of these particular areas. Please help!!

Peanna,

Not really and it's better to run with a weight vest instead of ankle weights.

Look at fast weight loss tip #20 for why

Do running with ankle weights burns more calories

Hello,

I just had a question concerning the emergency diet fruits and veg. quantities. What actually constitutes as two servings of fruits and veg.? Obviously an apple, orange or banana is a serving but what about kiwi, cantalope, cucumber, or broccoli, etc.? Am I basically trying to get about a cup worth or about 75 calories per serving?

As long as you eat at least 2 fruits and/or veggies is the goal but you can eat as many as you like.

see this for more info but yes...

About 100 total calories worth of fruits and veggies will be enough

February 05, 2010 - 09:08

Can you suggest any more protein powders? And is it better to use powders that are 100 calories per serving?
