8 Reasons why alcohol makes you fat…

1. Alcohol makes your body produce more estrogen &…

Estrogen promotes fat storage and lowers your testosterone levels.

2. Alcohol increases your appetite &…

The more you eat the fatter you get and alcohol only makes you want to eat more of these bad foods here and…

That's why some restaurants offer you alcohol before a meal to get you to order more food.

3. Alcohol slows down your 'fat-burning' metabolism

Your liver has to convert the alcohol you drink into acetate and then the acetate becomes your body's main source of energy so instead of burning off ugly fat for energy…

Acetate is now used meaning you do not burn any fat and…

One study has already showed your body's ability to burn fat decreases up to 73% for a few hours after having a couple of drinks and other studies say drinking more than a couple of drinks can lower your fat burning ability for up to 4 days.

4. Alcohol increases cortisol &…

Cortisol is a bad hormone which helps you gain belly fat

5. Alcohol makes you tired

Drinking too much alcohol leads to dehydration causing fatigue which will make you not able to workout with enough intensity to lose weight fast plus…

The dehydration caused by alcohol can lead to wrinkles and dry skin.

6. Alcohol is basically pure sugar

Alcohol is basically the refined juice of natural foods which makes it a drink of pure concentrated sugar that will make you gain fat easily.

7. Alcohol causes you to lose important 'weight loss' minerals

Alcohol causes you to lose minerals that are important for fat metabolism like magnesium, potassium, calcium & zinc

8. Alcohol decreases your motivation because…

Alcohol is a depressant that is already known to make cases of depression even worse so imagine what it will do to your renewed motivation to lose weight and…

If I drink one or two glasses of wine at an event this weekend, will this stop my weight loss. I have already dropped 4 sizes after giving birth and have been losing lbs. I just started working out twice a day for 5 days and once on Saturdays. If I do drink one day (on a weekend), will that hurt long term? (We do socialize a lot and throw a lot of parties).

Hi, I am 28, 5ft 9. I started a high intense work out routine. I work out 6 days per week. I started this about a month ago. I only eat about 1,000 cals per day I weigh 153 but I want to be about 143. I always look bloated in the lowe belly and I cant get the fat off my lower abs. Not to mention I dont look like I have lost anything this week despite my diet and 40min daily workouts. Whats going on pleasehelp.

The reason why your not loosing the weight now is your body has been taught (by you) that it needs to stre the calories you give it because your not getting enough to fuel a higly intense workout. YOu need to 1) eat better and 2) change your work out a bit. Your body has hit the glass cealing. Change things and break on through to the other side!

You are starving yourself. An inactive adult should go no lower than 1400 calories per day...an active person needs more than that. Your body is probably storing most of what you eat since it is starved, and feels it needs to keep as much as it can.

You really should be eating a few more calories each day. Your body typically needs at least 1500 per day to function and when you eat too few, your body goes into starvation mode and tries to hold on to as much as it can.

Your prob not doing the exersize right and Are slacking off. Plus. remember that spme people burn calories alot slower than others so you might be one of them, any way that doesnt exclude why your not seeing results. Also remember, the changes come slow but they are there, just give it time ;)

I am so glad I found this information... Thank you! I was 5'8 146 lbs. three years ago, working out and keeping track of calories, and wearing a size 4! Since then I have slacked, drank more alcohol, and gained so much weight. Your insight on alcohol is right-on. It's a one-two punch: the wine adds empty calories and leads to poor late-night eating. You holistic program here has motivated me to get back what I've lost and lose what I've gained :)

I suggest you understand the fermentation/distillation process before you make comments such as your Item 6
6. Alcohol is basically pure sugar
Alcohol is basically the refined juice of natural foods which makes it a drink of pure concentrated sugar that will make you gain fat
There are lots of alcoholic drinks which do not contain sugar due to the process of fermentation and distillation. Do not mislead people.

Exactly. Thank you. Low carb diets allow vodka or other distilled alcohols if you have it with soda. As for wine- It always amuses me to see people who stuff their faces non stop with outsized portions of food blame their weight gain on wine. People who drink wine with their meal eat less, because they are satiated quicker. Also, a glass of wine at night is better than a chocolate bar. This whole frenzied culture of deprivation and compulsive exercising seven out of seven days is based on one fatal mistake: eating too much. cut the portions in half and you can enjoy a vodka or wine without turning into a boring diet-and-exercise bot

im just wondering about alcohol and weight loss, i read 8 reasons why alcohol makes you fat, but i work as a nightclub manager and its part of my job to be social with the guests, can you recomend what kind of alcohol is the least harmful to weightloss?

February 07, 2012

Adrian Bryant

I don't think there is a least harmful alcohol. that's like asking me what's the least harmful candy bar.

Your best option is to try to limit your alcohol consumption as much as you can

You should still be able to drink Vodka i guess, its basically just liquid potatoes. Better yet, get water, it looks just like vodka onlly it's healthier :)

October 07, 2011

Adrian bryant

Just on the weekends may or may not hurt but if you're having trouble with your weight loss then alcohol should be the first thing to look at
