"People are not lazy. They simply have impotent goals / that is, goals that do not inspire them." -Anthony Robbins-

11 Ways to get motivated to lose weight

1. Keep on saying "So That"

Ask yourself "Why do I want to lose weight" and after you come up with a reason why... Just keep on saying SO THAT.

For example - Why Do you want to lose weight...

Can you see what's happening here?

The more times you say SO THAT = the more and more motivated you'll become to lose weight.

2. Play the "If I Do" and the "If I don't game"

To Play the "If I Do" and the "If I don't game" ...

You're going to take 2 sheets of paper and on the top of 1 sheet of paper you're going to write...

"These are all the GOOD things that will start happening to me tomorrow, next week, next month, next year, or even 2,5, or 10 years from now
IF I DO Take action now to lose weight" and...

Then you'll fill up that sheet with every single GOOD thing you can imagine that will happen in the near & distant future If You DO take action now to lose weight so for example - you'll probably write things like...

On the top of the other sheet of paper - you'll write...

"These are all the bad things that will start happening to me tomorrow, next week, next month, next year, or even 2,5, or 10 years from now
IF I DON'T Take action now to lose weight" and...

Then you'll fill up that sheet with every single BAD thing you can imagine that will happen in the near & distant future If You DON'T take action now to lose weight so for example - you'll probably write things like...

Once you have filled out your IF I DO & If I DON'T sheets...

You want read these sheets every 3-to-5 days but... Every time you feel like giving up on your weight loss goals or dreams to Look Good Naked – Just take 10 minutes and read your IF I DO & If I DON'T sheets and I guarantee you...

Click here to print out your "IF I DO" sheet and... Click Here to print out your "IF I DON'T" sheet and then...

STOP & take at least 30 minutes to fill up those sheets.

3. Make a bet with yourself

You can make a bet with yourself or other people to GUARANTEE that you will lose weight & Look Good naked and...

Here's some examples of bets you can make to make sure you will REALLY want to lose weight or else!...

The more extreme the bet is or the more you have to lose = the greater chance you'll actually reach your weight loss goal and think about like this...

If there was a chance you could lose your house, your car and all your money if you did not lose 50 pounds in 10 months (which is a reasonable amount of time) then you'll probably end up losing 50 pounds in 7 months or less!

4. Make excuses to win & Don't make excuses to lose

STOP making lame excuses NOT to lose weight like...

It's easy to make excuses to lose and be a loser (and a loser is someone who doesn’t even try) but...

It's also easy to make excuses to win and be a winner and a winner is someone who gets off their ass and gives at least 1% so for example...

Use that time you made to Look Good Naked and...

Even if you are a single parent with 8 kids and 3 jobs - That is sill not an excuse to give up and be a loser because...

I got a weight loss plan here and a quick 10 minute fat loss workout here you can still use to lose weight and If you still don't feel like working out or if have any other excuses...

Look at Tips #1 & #2 again and...

5. Let nothing stop You From losing weight!

What's stopping YOU right now at this very moment from losing weight and looking the best you can?

Write down everything that's stopping you from reaching your weight loss goals and then beside each thing that's stopping you... Make a plan to eliminate the problem so For example...

DON'T EVER falsely believe that your genetics are keeping you from losing weight

Write down whatever's stopping you from losing weight and then STOP IT before it makes you even fatter and...

The only reason why you shouldn't lose weight is because you simply don't want to lose weight.

6. Set deadlines and then reward yourself

For example... If your big weight loss goal is to lose 100 pounds in 10 months... Then you can set 10 deadlines where you have to lose 10 pounds every month for the next 10 months so...

Let's say on the way to your big goal to lose 100 pounds in 10 months you actual lose 12 pounds in your 1st month... You can reward yourself by buying yourself a new dress or going out to a movie and please... DO NOT reward yourself by sabotaging your weight loss plan or diet by eating stuff that's going to put weight back on and remember this...

The greater the reward is you have planned for yourself the higher your motivation will be to lose weight

7.  Set deadlines and then punish yourself

If you don't meet your deadlines you have to punish yourself - so for example...

Let's say you miss your deadline to lose 10 pounds a month by losing only 9 pounds... You have to punish yourself by not watching TV for a week or by not going shopping for a month and...

Along with the reward (see motivation tip #6 above) and the punishment for meeting and not meeting your deadlines...

You can be sure you'll stay highly motivated to lose weight or whatever else you set your mind to.

8. Post a Picture Everywhere

Post a picture of what you want to look like after you lose weight everywhere you can so If you were skinny in high school... Post your old high school pictures everywhere and if you always had a weight problem or if you don't have any pictures then...

9. Get a magazine and...

  1. Look at the sexy body of the person on the cover.
  2. Get a picture of yourself and cut out just the face. (make sure you're smiling in the picture)
  3. Take your smiling face & place it over the face of the person on the cover.
  4. Then I want you to do something crazy.
  5. Show the magazine cover to everyone you know & tell them this is how you're going to look real soon.
  6. If you're real crazy... Tell the person you have a crush on... This is what they'll miss out on in the future if they don't start going out with you now.
  7. And if anyone gives you that Yeah Right Look when you tell them... Use that as extra motivation to prove them wrong.
  8. Make copies of the magazine cover and post it everywhere in your house and make a special note under it saying...
"I will get a sexy body just like this cover model and when I do... I will laugh in the surprised faces of all the people who said I could never look like This"

10. Hang out with skinny people

There's a saying that goes like this... "If you hang out with 9 broke people -- You'll probably end up being the 10th broke person but...

If you hang out with 9 rich people -- you'll probably end up being the 10th rich person and the same goes true for losing weight.

Hang out with just skinny people and you'll pick up on their habits for staying slim.  You don't have to dump all of your overweight friends - you just shouldn't let their bad habits influence you.

11.  Remember the CBA's

"If you believe you can, you probably can. If you believe you won't, you most assuredly won't. Belief is the ignition switch that gets you off the launching pad." --Denis Waitley

I am 5'3 and i weigh 110 lbs. i am having a sweet sixteen in January and i want to have those skinny bodies like they have on magazines covers. (since my dress shows about 6 inches of my stomach). i always chubby since i was little and i hate my love handles so badly since they go out about 3-4 inches wider than my hips. and for me it takes forever to lose weight. and since it takes forever for me to lose weight i lose my motivation. i have no idea what or what not to eat, or the exercises i should do. i was hoping to lose 10 lbs in this time from now to January. can you please help?

Honey if you are 5'3" and only 110 i'd say you are thin enough. Being too skinny isn't healthy or pretty. A real guy wants a girl with a figure not skin and bones. No this isn't coming from some fat girl who is jealous of thin ones. I am a mom of a teenage daughter and three teenage sons. I am beautiful @ 5'5" and 135. Being skinny isn't everything. What I tell my own daughter is buy one size bigger in the dress (the size on the tag means nothing and if it bothers you cut it out. If you buy something that is too tight it can actually make you look heavier. Take up walking and do some crunches. Drink lots of water and eat healthy. Be happy and proud of who you are.

Instead of looking for a quick fix you should try for a lifestyle change. Maybe you don't eat healthy enough, you could aim to eat more fruits and veggies. You want to avoid sugary foods, and bad carbs. White bread, white pasta and white rice are all simple changes that you could make. Instead of eating white pasta bread and rice you could look to eat whole wheat and whole grain foods. Just a small change like eating grains can begin to make you healthy. You shouldn't try diet pills because they're unhealthy and won't do good for your body. You could try writing a food journal, and writing down all your goals. Excercizing a lot will really help too. For example, maybe you haven't excercized a lot. You could start slow and maybe walk a mile everyday. And you could do some sit ups and push ups and if you have a gym close you could start going there. If you're uncomforable with going out in public to excercize there are a lot of things you can do just in your own home. For example you could do some cardio by jump roping and using your stairs as steppers(just be careful!) Changing your diet and starting some excercize and building up can really help you lose weight. Also, set a goal for yourself. If you don't have a goal it will be a lot easier for you to lose track of what you're aiming for.

Good luck!

Hi Anthony, I know what it's like to want to lose weight before starting school again. It can be stressful and often disappointing results happen. You should keep up with your sports, that will keep you in shape too. But you can try drinking a lot of water, water instead of juices, soda, and anything else sugary you might drink. Water is the best thing we can do for our body. You could also try eating differently. Your eating habits may be bad, but don't think you have to stop eating to lose the weight. Instead of eating less food you can eat more healthy foods. Healthy food like whole wheat and whole grains, vegetables and fruits can help you lose weight. Avoid sugary foods, and a lot of salt. Too much sugar and salt can be bad for our bodies. If you need any motivation or help feel free to email me at kimberly1993@aol.com

I'll be willing to help anyone who just wants to talk to someone who wants advice and support from someone who is also in the same boat.

Good luck!

Just a school teacher, in my 34´s stuck in a 300 lbr, 6.5' tall, adquired in 12 years (220 lbs) when finishing my master degree. I`m really happy fat guy, but considering loose weight because my left knee is hurting tendons. Is my main problem, so thank you nowloss.com for this first step motivation

Knee tendonitis produces pain, tenderness and stiffness near a joint and is aggravated by movement. The inflamed tendons in the knee are usually painful when moved or touched, and the tendon sheaths may be visibly swollen from the accumulation of fluid and inflammation. Moving the joints near the knee tendon (even slightly) may also cause severe pain. The pain may be worse when ascending or descending stairs, when getting up from a seated position, and at night.

To everyone that's trying to lose weight, and are looking for realistic answers. My name is amanda. i'm 27 years old. When I was 17 years old, I weighed 230lbs and am only 5'6 tall. I moved in with my boyfriend at the time, in september, and we didn't have a vehicle. I had to walk everywhere i went. To work, grocery shopping, etc. I had no choice, if i wanted to go anywhere. At Christmas, my boyfriend bought me a pair of sz 14 jeans. I thought, noway would they fit. I was wearing a sz 17/18 for the last year. But sure enough they fit! Now, i didn't change my eating habits or anything. I had lost 35lbs just from walking everywhere! I was so excited that a pair of 14's fit me, January 1, i made a promise to myself that i would start watching what i ate, and continued to walk. By that may, i had lost 115lbs total! I went from 230lbs to 115lbs! I couldn't believe it! I've kept the weight off for 10 years now,(well, i weigh 140lbs now) but that's after having 2 children and getting married. So my answer to all of you out there, WALK!!! Make every step count. walk everywhere you have to go, and if you really want to lose the weight quickly, start watching what you eat! I also liked doing pilates, sometimes,(especially Denise Austin!). I wish the best of luck to you all! Feel free to reply and ask any questions that u think may help you lose weight! i know what it's like to have low or no self esteem, and to wanna lose weight! good luck!! just remember, YOU CAN DO IT!

Wow Amanda. Reading your post was like having someone read my mind. I am a single 42 year old mother of two teenagers. I had developed early. At the age of 10 years old, I wore a size 38c bra, and a size 16 in clothes. By the time I got into the 7th grade, I wore a size 20, and a size 9.5 shoe. During the summer, when I was 14 years old, I walked everywhere, and rode my bicycle early in the morning. It was not for exercise, but it was the only time I could spend with my first love. By the time school started, I was in a size 12-14. I am 260lbs, and 5'7" tall now. I feel good about myself, and believe it or not, I feel sexier naked, than in my clothes. I know what I need to do, but I can't seem to develop the motivation to get it done. I feel like the sexiest biotch alive, but I want to look like it on the outside too. I would like to remain full-figured, but it would benefit me to lose 50-60 lbs. Most people think I weigh about 220lbs., so I guess I carry the weight well. My car is broken down at the moment, and I know that is just what I need, but I can't seem to get motivated. Please share some tips with me. I eat a lot of fruits, and vegetables. Why am I blocking my own progress?
