5 Ways to get motivated to lose weight


1. Keep on saying "So That"

Ask yourself "Why do I want to lose weight" and after you come up with a reason why... Just keep on saying SO THAT.

For example - Why Do you want to lose weight...

Can you see what's happening here?

The more times you say SO THAT the more and more motivated you'll become to lose weight.

2. Set deadlines and then reward yourself

For example... If your big weight loss goal is to lose 100 pounds in 10 months... Then you can set 10 deadlines where you have to lose 10 pounds every month for the next 10 months so...

Let's say on the way to your big goal to lose 100 pounds in 10 months you actual lose 12 pounds in your 1st month... You can reward yourself by buying yourself a new dress or going out to a movie and please... DO NOT reward yourself by sabotaging your weight loss plan or diet by eating stuff that's going to put weight back on and remember this...

The greater the reward is you have planned for yourself the higher your motivation will be to lose weight

3.  Set deadlines and then punish yourself

If you don't meet your deadlines you have to punish yourself - so for example...

Let's say you miss your deadline to lose 10 pounds a month by losing only 9 pounds... You have to punish yourself by not watching TV for a week or by not going shopping for a month and...

Along with the reward (see motivation tip #2) and the punishment for meeting and not meeting your deadlines...

You can be sure you'll stay highly motivated to lose weight or whatever else you set your mind to.

4. Change Your Attitude

Don't say "I want to lose 25 pounds"... Say "I have to lose 25 pounds or I'll lose my job" or Say "I have to lose 25 pounds so my spouse won't leave me" (see Motivation tip #1)

When you're thinking like this... You make your weight loss goals more like LIFE or DEATH scenarios where you have a gun to your head where You HAVE TO LOSE WEIGHT OR ELSE!

5. Post a Picture Everywhere

Post of picture of what you want to look like when you lose weight everywhere you can.

If you were skinny in high school... Post your old high pictures everywhere and if you always had a weight problem then...

Cut out a picture of a person from a magazine, book, or even comic book that you want to look like and post that picture everywhere.

Posting pictures like this everywhere helps you "keep your eye on the prize"

My best advice to you in this situation is to be selfish and take care of YOU becasue...

IT'S YOUR BODY! and forget about looking thinner for a moment and think bout how much healthier you'll be if you lose weight and...

SO WHAT they dont want you to lose weight - IF YOU want to lose weight then do it and don't let anybody stop you and here's a bonus...

Maybe after you lose some weight they'll want to shape you also but basically...

Losing weight is not going to hurt them or anyone else and Not losing weight is not going to hurt them either but it will hurt you so...

Hi! I am a preacher's wife. The women that I usually end up 'entertaining', working with, etc. always complain when I mention diet. I am thinner than they are (still 25lbs overweight) and they just keep giving me a hard time about trying to lose. I can't get away from them, yet I can't be rude either. Any ideas? It's like everybody wants me to stay overweight so it will make them feel better and nobody seems to care what is important to me! Thanks!

First of all Go here to see all the exercises you do to firm up your problem areas but as you know...

You have to lose FAT to get the results you want and the reason why you lose your butt when you lose weight is becasue you are losing FAT in your butt area so...

Hello, first I want to say thank you! What does one need to do if they only want to loose the fat in their stomach, love handles, upper arms and just tone everything else like my thighs and butt. I'm afraid to do any cardio because when I loose weight I loose it in the wrong places (butt) I used to have a shelf, then when I got sick and lost weight, it's like my butt dropped so when my boyfriend squeezes it he has to grab the bottom portion near my thigh because theirs nothing on the top.

HELP.

Hi, I used to be quite thin and a normal weight as a kid, when i reached about 9-10 i started getting bigger n put on more weight, i'm not huge, but i've got a pot belly and un-needed fat on my legs, chest etc..
i'm very paranoid and hate my body and would never take my clothes off infront of someone, I lack the motivation and I have been wanting to push myself to the edge of really trying to loose weight, i give into food too easily, i would normally eat 2-3 times and be usually big meals, when i get really hungry i dont know what to eat, so i just eat whats easy to get to..
i'm 16 and i've looked at some of your videos and articles, can you give me some insight/advice? and would metablism pills be appropriate?

Thankyou so much- this is really great!
I want to lose weight for the summer. Im tired of feeling gross in my body, while my friends and sisters are gorgeous and skinny and get attention everywhere they go. I want to get like that, too.

I really need some tips that i can easily follow every day for things like not picking at food, how i can do little things through the day to burn fat, foods or things that will help me burn it, tips on saying no to food when i shouldnt have it etc...

Total boning toning or weight training should be done 2-to-3 times a week and the only way you can get away with doing toning every day is if you do toning exercises for a different bodypart each day - SSee how women can build a perfect body for a sample everyday workout schedule

I really love this website...I am trying to come up with an exercise plan that is a little different each day... I love trying new things and have found that your website offers exactly what I am looking for. My question is this: what is the rule of thumb for rotating your exercises? Can you exercise EVERY DAY? Or do you have to have a day of rest? I would like to do something related to toning in the AM, PM and then at least one good cardio workout on a piece of equipment. I did your Pyramid Interval 1 today and it was GREAT!!.. Do you have any suggestions for maybe a weekly routine to mix it up ...? or is there something on the site that outlines a good schedule? Thanks for such a great site!!

Threw my teens yrs. I was a thin person well actually a very skinny one, I was a size ZERO... Back then I wanted to b thicker and have shape to my body... After my first child I had the body I wanted but it came with strech marks...lol... Then i had another child, which also gave me more butt and breast, something I never thought I would ever have since I use to b SUPER thin... It was my third child that I realize that the skinny person I once was, was NEVER coming back!!!! From 90pounds size Zero to a size 9-140 pounds... "thats a BIG diffrencs for a 5'feet person"... I dont want to go back to what I was back when I was 18teen but then yet I dont want to gain more weight and b someone im NOT!!!! So my question is HOW??? AVOID STRESS! and read "11 ways to curb cravings" by going here: and find more ways to combat stress because too much stress cause belly fat gain and..

If you're going to overeat while stressed out - surround your self with weight loss foods like fruits & veggies, muffins, protein shakes, almonds & other nuts plus...

Place a picture of your former skinny self around your home, work, or where ever you can to remind you not to overeat while in your stressed out mode

It seems like the only thing stopping you from reaching your weight loss goal is "STRESS" so deal with and you'll be that beautiful skinny woman you want to be!

Ok, so I used to be skinny in highschool, well at least I was at a healthy BMI, after my first daughter it is like my body and appetite exploded. I don't mind exercising, I do the elyptical for 35 min twice a week and run/walk 3 miles two times a week. While I exercise I am extremely motivated, however as soon as stress hits I slide into overeat mode, and I eat a lot of crap, I am forty pounds overweight, and I am disgusted, what can I do?

I want you to imagine the looks on the faces of all the people who were putting you down and then...

i cant believe some people they say that they would rather be anarexic than fat all im saying is just be happy about u re weight because would u die or be fat just if u re on a diet dont try to be anarexic just dont take that risk

It seems like you're just exercising just to be exercising.

Maybe if you got a goal to shoot for like "I want to lose x number of pounds by march" or "I want to get a six pack by March".. this would keep you focused and on track and...

Yes - getting back on track after not exercsing for a while is hard but it's easier & easier as you start doing a little something everyday.

My problem is that i would start exercising for a week. and then i'll stop for about a month and then i'll feel guilty about it. Getting back on track is hard for me then. What should i do to continue my workout? I'm running a half marathon in April.

I think what you're doing now is great! and taking photos of yourself is a great idea - (this way you'll never quit)

Just remeber to burn fat or lose weight fast you need exercise(aerobics) & diet and if you want to shape up your body - do body sculpting exercises like the ones here

I happened across your site yesterday and found it to be a great source of information. I wanted to tell you how fantastic it was to have all that information available in one spot. I am a 33 year-old female trying to look good naked. I have a lot working against me. I have had 3 c-sections, an open appendectomy and I am extremely overweight. Well, I guess its extreme. According to the BMI calculators I am.

I started my own "semi-workout" schedule back in January of this year. I have returned to finish my degree in television and film at the University of West Florida. While I was taking my courses I decided to take yoga and pilates to get me started on something instead of being sedentary. When I started the spring semester I weighed 251. After 18 weeks I have lost 19 lbs. I am extremely happy. I never thought anything would really happen other than I would give up. This time feels different. I guess what I am looking for is a bit of advice. I have done a few things like replacing all my drinks with water and I signed up for summer aerobics classes at the University that meets 2 times a week.

I want to keep losing and reshaping my body. I even went so far as to take some photos of myself naked to see where I am now. However, by doing that I think I discouraged myself. I have never actually looked at myself naked. ITS HORRIBLE. I'd like to get a few tips from you if I could. Is aerobics really the fastest way to drop the hanging fat I have? Or should I be concentrating more on my diet?

I appreciate any help. Again, your website is fantastic. I look forward to hearing from you.
