Do we have to rest between 1-2 weeks after 2-8 weeks of doing any kind of exercises to bulking up our lower body?

And is it possible to do step up's with a barbell instead of dumbbells?

Hi Adrian,

Firstly, thanks for bieng such a generous soul and giving us such valuable tips so freely...people like you are like rare gems in this world...

I am desperately trying to lose weight and shape up by June/July 2012. I am 5 feet tall and weigh 176 pounds which puts me in the obese category. Despite that, I am reasonably fit and do intervals 2 times a week soemtimes even less.

Adrian, I really want to reach my target weight of 110 pounds by next July as I have a reunion coming up then. My body is a typical hourglass body and my arms are HUGE in comparison to the rest of my body.

Also I am really afraid to work with weights as I used the Fit Yummy Mummy programme and bulked up a lot. And yet I know that some kind of resistance training is important to shape up the body. he advantage I do have is my body still looks proprtional and my waist is defined despite my excess weight. (I tend to put on weight evenly throughout the body)

Adrian to sum up:

1) Please provide me with a ideal calorie intake for my height to lose 66 pounds by 30th June 2012
2) Please provide me with an ideal workout which will shape my body and tone it all over without adding muscle in all the wrong places. I am looking for the lean, toned look rather than the fitness model look Adrian.
3)Please tell me how many times a week I should do interval/high intensity cardio/interval workouts per week to reach my target weight in time.
4) Should i do any cardio on my OFF days or is it mandatory that I take a proper OFF day or two every week?

2. Those workouts will be in answer #1 and as for bulking up - here's what REALLY happened to you...

You just built muscle under the fat which you had not lost which made you look bulky but even that is not a bad thing b/c...

as you lose weight those sexy muscles will start to show

im new to this. when i first did it my legs were shaking, and when i try to squeeze my butt it doesn't feel like when squeeze it while im standing, u know what im sayin'? is that normal?
So how many times i should do this exercise in a week? i've read a comment of someone who does it every day three times a day, and she said she gained 1 inch in 10 days. is that OK?
Last thing, if i just do this exercise, will it be enough to get a bigger butt? or i should do the squads and the kick backs with it?

URGENT!!!!Please, please help me! i did pilates butt exercises. I did more to one side than the other. Now one side is bigger and rounder than the other. The other one is smaller and flat. I did more exercises to the one thats flat. I guess i burned the fat which has caused it to become flat. Please help me to build the other side up. Its embarassing! Please help me,please.
