What is your goal?


Before you get mad and say something like "Duh! To LOSE WEIGHT you idiot! Think for a moment and really ask yourself this "Why do I Really want to lose all this weight?

Do you really want to lose weight to look good, to feel better, to be healthier, or do you need to lose weight to pass a physical exam?

When you find the main reason why you really want to lose weight you will become more motivated to stick with and finish any weight loss program successfully.

But don’t stop after you find your main reason for wanting to lose weight. Come up with many more underlying reasons to go along with your main reason for wanting to lose weight.

You may want to lose weight to look good and that may be enough to motivate you, but why stop there when you can almost guarantee your success with more underlying reasons to motivate you?

Which person do you think will be more motivated and more likely to succeed with their weight loss program?

The person who:

Really wants to lose weight to look good (main reason)

-Or the person who-

Really wants to lose weight to look good so they can (main reason):

-Look good for next year’s high school class reunion (Underlying reason 1)

-See the surprised looks on the faces of old classmates. (Underlying reason 2)

-To hear old classmates say, WOW, you look great. (Underlying reason 3)

-Get a date with someone you had a crush on in high school (Underlying reason 4)

It’s ok to have more than 1 main reason for wanting to lose weight. No matter how many main reasons you may have for wanting to lose weight, make sure that you have some underlying reasons to go along with them.

It’s best to write down all of your main reasons and underlying reasons and post them somewhere in your everyday view. You can post them on your refrigerator, bathroom mirror, date book, or TV.

By posting these notes it helps remind you to stay focused on your goal. You’ll think twice about eating too much when you see your reasons posted for losing weight on your refrigerator.

Quick motivational tip: If your reason for losing weight is to look better you can further motivate yourself by posting pictures of yourself when looked better at a lower weight or you can post a picture of someone else you want to look like when you lose weight.

If your reason for losing weight is to pass a physical so you’ll make the football team, you can walk or drive by the football field everyday to motivate yourself. Better yet, you can exercise on the football field.

Find your reason(s) for losing weight, write them down, and come up with more creative ways to motivate yourself.
