5'6-157 lbs. it says i should eat around 1700 calories but do intervals twice a day. I'd like to put on a bit of muscle but ultimatley get cut. I fell like this would make me lose weight but would make my flabby in that there's no way to build muscle getting nutrition out of about 1000 calories a day right? I have to work out around 7 as well and have to eat dinner before. Should I eat something after i run and lift at night?

You're on the right track and since you are not really overweight - it's going to take longer than 10 days to lose your last 10 pounds but keep it the good work and you unwanted fat will go away

I've been following your tips and plans and Im working on my last 10-15 pounds. Im currently in Asia where it's very hot and where I eat less. I thought I was gonna lose my last 10 pounds here just because of the heat and smaller amounts of food. But I only lost like 3 pounds. so...i am a school goin guy.now i am really determined to shape up myself.im abt 144 lb n 182 cm so i guess thats not overweight.ive read here abt many ppl who r not overweight but just a lil out of shape like me.
so...im goin to begin with your home workout coz its fitting with my schedule.i have to workout at 5 in the morn n around 5.30 in the eve.then at 6 i'll be goin for soccer practice.

I would stick with the 1200+ calories and I dont think you are in survival mode...
When I lost my last few pounds of fat - it was more because of my exercise and the trick is...
You gotta keep changing up your rotuines to keep them intense so the fat will easily come off

It looks like im going to lose my bet. Which sucks. But oh well.
On the upside, I think i realized what i'm doing wrong.
Ive been eating around 1200-1300 calories a day. However, if i subtract my calories burned then some days i only ended up with 900 calories and other days 600. And each of my cheat days my weight went up IMMEDIATELY and I am still hovering at 138 lbs after about four weeks.
Ive been doing jump rope intervals, hill intervals, the weight loss workouts, jump rope intervals mixed with calisthenics intervals. I tried to mix things up like you said. Today i even tried sprints, which i hate with an everlasting passion. I have not worked out twice every day, maybe half the days. The other days I did not work out twice because I had no energy. Still, i would of thought i would have lost more than two lbs.
Anyways, do you think I am correct in thinking that i put my body in survival mode? Is eating about 1450-1500 calories a day a better plan for me?
Also, my body seems to build muscle pretty quickly. I bought whey protein powder so i could get enough protein because buying that much meat would be too expensive for me. I thought maybe that would help.

You can use the elliptical and it will not make your legs any smaller unless there is a lot of fat around your legs and in that case they will get smaller as you lose leg fat

#1 - the muscle you gained will make you look slimmer so you probably should have bet your boyfriend you would look better with a lower body fat & LOL and...
#2 in your case as with anybody else trying to lose last bits of fat - you need to increase intensity before adding MORE STUFF so...
#3 for your hill sprints - you can run faster up the hills or run up a longer hill or better yet...
#4 - stop doing the hills and do a different interval workout all together but...
make sure whatever different interval you do is more intense than the hill sprints.
You can try adding the jump rope but i think in my own personal experience of losing my last few pounds of fat...
I always lost fat doing a differnet more intense routine or increasing the intensity of what I'm already doing instead of adding more low intensity stuff

I've been doing this weight loss program for two weeks and my weight is hovering in between 138 and 140 lbs.
I bet my boyfriend $400 that i could get down to 130 lbs by July 18th. I did not realize then how hard it was going to be to lose that last ten lbs.
I am going to continue doing this weight loss plan but i want to add two hours of jump rope per day. one before lunch and one at night. I will do intervals in the morning before breakfast.
My question is, is this dangerous? Is it too much to expect of my body? I do not want to get injured and not be able to work out at all.
P.S. Ive been doing the hill intervals. They really work! My legs are really toning up. I would think that my lack of weight loss is just added muscle from that but i have not lost an inch from my waist. I'm really ready to get serious and be done with these last ten lbs.

I am 140 lbs, 5'7". My waist measurement at my navel is about 32". at its smallest point it is 28" My body has always stored fat in my abdomen. I desperately want a flat stomach.

Doing the home weight loss workout twice a day is fine but...
Instead of increasing the time increase the intensity by running a longer distance between cones or running faster so you realy want to keep your workouts to a short but very intense 10-to-40 minutes

Well, of course the drinking (beer) will slow down your progress and...
fat burners help by giving you an extra boost of energy during workouts to make you workout more intense plus...
some fat burners have caffeine + green tea in them that help you burn extra fat while working out and
the plan will still work even though you are drinking and only doing intervals once a day but don't expect any quick or overnight results at your pace

I could follow this plan nearly perfectly besides 2 things. I cannot wake up early enough (I already get up at 5) to do intervals or anything in the morning. I can do them at night though. Also I eat very healthy but i drink 3 nights a week which isn't going to stop. Will this plan still work? Also, i know you reccomend fat burners, im just curious about them since they get so much negative things said about them all over. Do they actually help or do anything or is hydroxycut, for example, just another scam?

Simple math.
If you're 18% at 150 pounds then that means you have 27 pounds of fat so...
If you lost 10 pure pounds of fat you would be 140 pounds with 17 pounds of fat meaning...
Your bodyfat % would be 12% or 17 pounds of fat divided by 140 pounds

Here's the point...
The more intense your workout is = the more fat you will burn so...
If you do your intervals correctly - then your interval of walking or complety resting for 30-to-90 seconds & running as fast as you can for 10-to-30 seconds should be harder or more intense than running for 15min straight.

Here's my 4 week update:
Did the fast weight loss#1 for all the 4 weeks. I will be switching to a different routine starting next week.
Eating five times, 1200 to 1400 cal, 2 raw veg or fruit before each meal, and introduced whey protein isolate a few days ago. I am drinking a lot of hot green tea.
Got, maybe a couple of inches of belly fat and some flab on mid to lower back. And the love hanldes are reducing but still visible- especially when I bend sideways.
Good progress so far.
Adrian, please let me know if I need to change anything.

Your bodyfat scale is obivously way off!?
It's probably lower than that! with your weight and height
The most accurate way to have body fat tested is to have a caliper test and those commerical body fat scales are not accurate but back to your question...
Both the intervals and weight lifting you do are worth it.
the intervals burn fat and the weights will help you look better and any muscle you build or gain from weights will make you look slimmer even though you gained muscle weight + when you gain muscle your body fat % goes down

I'm 31 yrs old, 5'3, 119 lbs (i was 123 lbs and lost 4 lbs in 16 days by following your lose 10 lb in 40 days plan and i'm very happy about that!). I'm doing running, jumping rope intervel and also weight lifting class at the gym. According to my own heart rate monitor, i burned about 100 calories in doing 15 mins intervels. However, i can only burn 220 calorie in a 60 mins weight lifting class. Do you think it's still worth to spend time doing the weight lifting given that i can burn more calorie in much less time on doing intervels? I just purchased a body fat monitor and my fat % is 28.9 which means i still have alot of fat to burn even though i'm considered in a healthy range of my weight and height. Thank you!

the schddule is fine but...
Only do this routine no more than 4 times a week and the other days you can do regualr light intensity workouts like walking at a slow pace

If you have time then YES...
You want to do about 3-to-5 MINI workouts spread out throughout the day but those mini workouts need to be real intense like the intervals you are doing but if you don't have time...
Doing the morning and evening intervals like you do is fine and as far as your weight flucuations during the day...
Everybody's weight goes up and down during the day and me personally...
i keep track of how much I weight in the morning.
I also drink about 1-to-2 gallons of water a day which can make me add 2-to-5 pounds during the day but that little gain in weight isn't noticable at all because my diet is clean preventing me from getting bloated

I've been following the lose 10 lb in 40 days plan doing intervel in the morning and evening. I do intervel on the treadmill in the morning for 30 minutes. Then today i saw your 31 Fast Weight Loss Tips #1, it said you can actually lose more weight & keep your metabolism fired up longer by doing 3-to-4 shorter 10-minute workouts instead of 1 big 30-to-40-minute cardio workout. If that's the case, is that mean i'll be doing the treadmill intervel for 10 mins, then doing another 10 mins 2 hrs later (according to your workout at home video)? Another thing is i weight 120.6 lb right after wake up, then gradually increase in a few hrs or after a meal and end up to 123.5 lb by the end of the day, then it return back to 120 the next morning again. So what is my actual weight then? Thanks.

This is Dug again. Wanted to give you a quick update. It's been one week on your Fast Weight Loss Plan #1 (2 sets, only once a day in the AM) so far, and I dropped 2.5 lb. I might be dropping too fast...but a good problem to have. Hope I am not losing muscle though.
My body fat analyzer scale went from 12.5 to 11.5 (this may not be accurate because I truly believe I have more fat than that).
Eating five times, 1200 to 1400 cal, 2 raw veg or fruit before each meal, but I am not sure if I am getting 30% protein. I am drinking a lot of hot green tea. Will start taking protein shakes but will wait until I drop another 4- 5 lbs.
My left wrist started hurting a bit after the second day of Ab Crawl. So I taped it up today and it was fine.

YEs - you could try 1300-to-1600 calories to see if you get any results but also remember this...
You have to be patient with your weight loss b/c weight loss at your weight & height will be slower

Hello, I used this page to start my diet but I can't stick to eating 1100-1300 calories a day. I always get hungry and I always break my diet when I come back from school(its cause im tired and hungry). I try to eat a lot of proten, and fiber and I drink 16 ounces of water and im still hungry. I can't believe I do everything I can to stop this hunger and it wont work at all. Btw I even take multivitamins a day. For someone who is 5'5" and 125 pounds, can I eat 1,600 calories to lose weight with exercise 5-6x a week? Or do I have to lower the calories? Also, why am I always hungry when I eat more protein and everything I tried to do than I used to?

Congrats on a real cool, unique and no BS website.
I am male, 39, 5'9", 159. I am in a decent shape, I guess. But I want to get my body fat down to under 10%
and get a six pack abs. I am probably between 13 and 15% body fat now.
Upper body is my problem area (small love handles, belly fat , chest and back)
I had previously done Basic Tae Bo Boot Camp and had some real good results.
In my pursuit of a six pack abs, I just started on your Fast Weight Loss Plan #1 (only once a day though). I was able to complete
it with 1 or 2 minute rest between each exercise. I already eat well and 5 small healthy meals
a day is not a problem.
Do you think alternating between your fast weight loss#1, fast weight loss #2 and Tae Bo will get me my desired results?
I do not have access to a gym and do not intend to join one. I want to achieve my goal
in 8 - 12 weeks. Is that realistic for me? Really appreciate your guidance here.

You should only spend 3-to-4 days a week doing high intensity activies so don't them 8 times in 6 days
You'll lose weight faster working out twice a day but you'll still lose weight working out once a day and...
If you are sore - listen to your body and take those days off from intense training and do lighter but longer weight loss activiites like walking at a slow pace for 60 minutes

I'm starting my goal to lose my last 10 lbs in 40 days following your guidelines doing the intervals workout of 4 times a week, twice a day.
But sometimes i think it's hard to do twice a day. If i spread 8 workout to 6 days, will the result the same?
Also, since i'm doing high intensity workout like running fast and weight lifting, my muscle get sore the next day and usually takes about 2-3 days the pain will go away. If that's the case, during the 2 days with pain, i really can't do much. Is there a solution?

Im 5'5 123 pounds and I currently exercise everday and im having a problem with my diet. I started a diet a month ago, so I only ate 1,200 calories and I lost 4 pounds,so I was 121 pounds. The exercises I did were squats, and crunches only for 10 mins each 3-4 times a day. Now I eat 1,300 calories each day and I never seem to be full( i go way over 1,300 calories but I make up for it by exercising for a really long time). I gained 2 pounds from this. I exercise more than 40 mins on the eliptical machine and treadmil. I've tried to eat more raw nuts, vegetables, fruits, and protein. Also, I tried to drink milk twice a day with 16 ounces of water with each meal I eat. What can I do? I dont seem to be losing weight even though I exercise harder and every single day after that first month, I can't stick to my 5 meal diet. I can't even stick to the 6 meal diet either when I increased how much water I drank a day by about 32 ounces. I want to know if I should start my diet all over and stop exercising hard and eat less. If thats the case, how many times aa week do I exercise and how many calories??

#1 - you are not overweight so that already means it's going to take longer (and I don't know how long that's going to be) and...
#2 - you can check your body fat percentage here and if it's high - then maybe you'll lose fat/weight faster but...
If it's below 20% - then it will take a longer time for you to lose 15 pounds

I am getting my heartrate up to 150-165 and maintaining that for 90% of the workout so I would say pretty intense...mostly I run or do elliptical,plyometrics and yoga for cardio,I do everything from push ups,pull ups,weight machines and free weights for resistance. To lose those last stubborn pounds = stricter dieting and more intense exercise like intervals (see NowLoss.com/i) and also...
Look at numbers 1-thru-5 here for exercise but actually in your case...
I think you weight now is fine and if you want to improve your self-perceived body image...
I would do more toning exercises here instead of trying to lose more weight and like I said...
In your case - weight loss is going to be real slow due to the fact you don't really have too much weight to lose and all that flab you talked about can probably be firmed up with some toning

Oi, just doing a check up, and I need a bit more advice. When I last came to you a few months ago- I was at my still-current height of 4'10 (even though I'm almost 17) and I weighed 122 pounds, which sometimes switched about to 126, 123, 120, the works. I'd like you to know that I've gotten down to my original goal weight of 110!!! And I'd like to say thank you, because your advice helped a lot. ;P But here's the thing. I still feel just bit bloated. The same goes for my inner thighs. >__< My stomach is still a little flabby-ish, which I can understand because I haven't really done any toning/weight training exercises. Just a lot of walking and running lately. Also, my food choices have changed for the better but I know that there are better selections I could have/can make. So yeah, my newest question is this: just what exactly will help me get to my final goal weight of 103? I know it seems like a small number, but if you were to see my body type, you'd understand. lol I really feel like I'm getting close to my final weight- but I'm all out of ideas. Note, I can only run, swim occasionally when I get the chance and do simple things like jumping jacks, rope, and such because I don't have access to a gym. n__n; Help por favor??

I'm 21, 5'4 and 120. I started doing 30 minutes of cardio about 4 days a week, running at 5 mph.
Its been 2 months and i haven't lost any weight! my body feels slightly more muscular, but i haven't really lost any inches. In fact my thighs feel bulkier than before. I eat about 1200 cals/day. I'd like to get down to 110, which is what i weighed 3 years ago.
Do you have any tips for people who are already at a low weight? Also, is it better to take breaks during cardio or do the whole workout at once? thanks

I love your advice. I am 45 and weigh about 160 lbs. I recently lost 7 lbs cutting dairy (lactose intolerant), most white flour and white sugar. I'm working on losing another 10 or so. I just took my measurements and am kinda stressed with hips at 41 inches and waist at 34.5. At 5'5'', what is an ideal healthy weight to aim for? I work out regularly 4-5 days a week doing cardio and circuit training.

Whatever you do to lose those last 10 pounds will take time because of your low weight but it's going to take longer without exercise and I highly recommend you do find time to exercise so...
I still think you need to do NowLoss.com/15 but just try to incorporate exercise as much as you can but don't just NOT EXERCISE at all and...

Hi. I would like some advice from you on how to lose my last 10 lbs.
Im currently 118 lbs and im 5'4. I used to be 130 and had lost those lbs. But I would like to lose about 8 more lbs to be 110 or 112. I don't mind which ever. I just want to flatten up my stomach and tone my thighs. It's very hard for me, because i have high school from 7-12 and then i go to beauty school until 10. I have no time to work out, which sucks. Sometimes i wake up at 430 to work out til 5ish then shower, i normally wake up at 5;30 to shower and get ready for school. I sleep at 12ish cause i have homework to do and studying and catching up with friends. The only thing you may want to worry some about is pre-workout meals about 1-to-2 hours before workout that have lots of complex carbs to give you energy for your cardio workout

when bodybuilders refer to making sure you have the correct pre and post workout meals..does that pertain to resistance training and cardio sessions or just resistance.
I do one hour resistance followed by 1 hr cardio when I awake then 45 min cardio after dinner. Not sure how to fit these pre/post meals in.

What i wanted to ask was, when the weekend approches, do i need to continue to the diet plan? Because i find when the weekend comes around i sleep most of the day. I dont eat during the day (hardly if anything) just usually a dinner with friends the saturday/sunday night. Can i have 4x 27g protein shakes (at 8am, 11am, 2pm, 5pm) and dinner? Hello! I saw your website after a google search about weight loss and muscle gain. Five years ago, I was an extreme martial artist and in the best shape of my life at 36 years old. I moved to South Dakota, gained 35 pounds, so two months ago, I started my fitness regime again. My question is this - is it possible to lose ten pounds in weight and gain ten pounds in muscle mass?
The reason I ask is because two months ago, I weighed in at 165, then three weeks ago, I weighed in at 158, I’m on a dairy-free diet (milk allergies), I work out five days a week - 45 minutes resistance/weight training and 45 minutes variate cardio (high and low intensity). Three weeks later, I fit my clothes better, I’ve obviously lost fat but I’m still at 158??!?!?
I am a female, 5′1, medium bone density, and my fighting weight ten years ago was 125. I am 41 now and hoping to get at least down to a toned 135. Is this realistic?
Is this a period that I plateau (lost 10 lbs. fat/gained 10 lbs. muscle) and then start to see weight loss in the coming weeks?

If you have a considerable amount of FAT on your legs then the only thing you can really do to make you legs thinner is to lose overall bodyfat with one of these weight loss plans here
Those exercises you mentioned will only firm up you legs but they may also help make them look thinner as you shape and tone them
Will leg curls + extensions, squats, dead-lifts, and lunges x4 a week make my legs thinner in four months? Or is it just too much?

#2 - People who are already lean and don't have much weight to lose need to do intense exercises like intervals to lose weight so...

Oh, yes. An important question here. I've mixed answers of the '1200 calorie a day' recconmendation. Usually, since I eat fruits, vegitables, and some sort of protein(and I'm usually stuffed afterward), whenever I add it up, it's not 1200 calories (based on internet values found). Will my body go into 'starvation mode' and start storing fat? (some peole say since they are good calories and they give what your body needs, others say yes because I'm not getting enough calories). Should I eat more even when I'm not hungry to get it to 1200 (I usually eat 900-1000)?

I want to lose inches but is that the same as losing weight? Since summer, I've went from a size 8 to a size 5-6 (yay :D) by losing 10 pounds. But that doesn't make since to me since I highly doubt 10 pounds equals 2 jean sizes.
How would I go about losing inches? I'm not overweight (5'3, 130 (yes, i know it's "ideal" for my height but i don't feel that it is. i understand it'll be harder and take longer) pounds, female, 15 [is that young to lose weight?]) but I still have larger-than-normal thighs and a pouch of fat on my stomach (though it's not a HUGE problem, i can live with it). Could you suggest exercises that would help tone the thighs and help decrease my body fat percentage? When I should exercise? Would green tea aide me in my quest for weight loss (even a little)?
Any suggestions would be great. I'd like to lose the weight by summer (going to france :D), so i have about six months, so i'm not in a hurry (i don't want the weight to come back).

Another thing then, I usually play full court basketball for about an hour or run 20 min (about 2.5 miles) on a treadmill before my work out. Is this "sissy-cardio" or ok? You basically need to do body sculpting exercises using moderate weights for 8-to-12 reps while continuing to do whatever you did to lose 20 pounds but basically...

When I tried to do the workout #1 in the morning and almost fainted. Would you recommend eating a small snack like banana before the workout? Or how about working out around 11AM -- it's my lunch break?

Since Feb 2008 I have lost a lot of weight (about 35+ punds) and I am 25 and

Im going to try this workout plan and the "lose 20 pounds in 3-4 weeks" weightloss plan, for I am looking to lose quite a bit of weight before school starts about a month and a half from now.
I have some questions....
1. My thighs are huge(mostly fat), even the part above my knee is quite big.. I am looking to lose most or ALL of the fat from my thighs. Will this workout help me to lose weight in my thighs and make them slimmer? or will I have to do another workout plan/ exercise to make them slim?
2. I have the same problem with my "love handles", there huge! Again, will this workout plan help me to lose most or ALL of that fat? or will I have to do another workout?
3. I don't have whey or soy protein.. But I do have another weightloss control powder.. The thing is.. It says to put 2 scoops in a cup of water but the 2 scoops are OVER 200 calories! What should I do? Could I maybe just use one scoop instead?

It seems like I do need to change my exercise routine. That's the only thing that's kind of been similar other than that I've been on a 1200 calories a day plan for the past week and a half. It included whey proten shake, egg whits, chicken/fish, non-fat yogurt, fruits and veggies and of course lots of water.
My body fat percentage right now is 22% and when I started working out 3 months ago it was 28%. I think this is a big change. I've lost inches all over but i want to see the scale go down a bit too. Maybe i'm asking too much.

Do you have a sample of a full day menu. I'm just not sure how to differentiate the amount of calories contained per meal.
p.s. The protein seems limited. Is it ok to eat protein slices of clean natural chicken or turkey slices as well?
