Hi, I was wondering if you had some advice for my situation.

I'm 20 years old, 5'3" and I weigh 210 lbs. I had a baby about a year ago and never lost the weight. But I've always been bigger (150-160) and tried a lot of diets from SlimFast to the Alli pill, but nothing really works. I also have a probably with time and motivation to do anything about it. I'll admit it, I'm lazy and I eat too much!

I'd like to lose 80-90 lbs at least by September-October. Am I hopeless or is there something I can do? Thanks so much!

Your body has gotten use to your VLCD and the 700-to-800 calories you eat is way to low and you should eat at least 1200-to-1500 calories a day divided by 5 meals plus...

Hi Adrian! I know you get my kind of question alot, but...here it is again.

I am 16 years old as of December 25...my diet started on March 1,2008... I was 248 pounds, my diet consisted of taking two equate shakes one for breakfast and one for lunch and sometimes eating fruits in between and then walking 2-3 miles in the nighttime before bed, Oh and I drank like a gallon of water a day. I hardly ever cheat because I had the strongest will I ever had.

This was the first time I was ever on a diet and didn't really know what I was doing (I still don't), anyway around august-september I stopped losing weight no matter what I tried. I drank some "filtered" wal-mart water and it was nasty so I stopped drinking water and I got dehydrated and had to go to the hospital...I also needed salt tablets...from then on my dad cut-me off my diet from before, I knew it probably wouldn't be safe to go on like that)

So I gave it a rest (still eating less and exercising, and blogging my journey) but not losing any weight at all. - 170 pounds

I started back up my diet in the end of November and I am still on it but I am not losing any weight...I've tried (chinese) Green Tea for a month and I've recently been drinking Barley Tea and I've been going up and down 186,179,186,179 and I just cant seem to lose anything.

My current diet consist of this:
Eating Breakfast around 110 Calories
Lunch - 200-300 Calories
Dinner - 300-400 Calories
Snacks - once in a while I'll eat something sweet, no sodas, junk foods or restaurant food...all homemade
Night time - walking 2-3 miles
Other exercise: Helping my mom clean the house and look after children, mopping, includes alot of running (in a small house though). I spend like 3-4 hours on the computer during the weekends.

I reaaaly need and want some help, I am starting to get a little depressed especially since my legs are so close together and everytime I run or walk fast I am reminded of them.

You should shoot for 40-to-50 pounds in 5 months and do this weight loss plan here -I know you don't want to here that but...

You'll only disappoint yourself by focusing on all the fast weight loss stuff because even with the master cleanse diet which most people can only stay on for about 1-to-2 weeks...

You'll gain all your back quickly and you'll set yourself up for a roller coaster scenario with your weight going up and down preventing you from ever getting to 120 pounds and...

I'm not trying to push MY weight loss plan on you because it's MY weight loss plan...

I just want you to get started on a more permanent weight loss plan and that could be any plan that helps you lose 1-to-3 pounds a week or 10 pounds a month and as for toning your legs, stomach,thighs and arms - go here to do that and...

I hope you take my advice and make a goal of being 130-to-140 by July and maybe 110 by 2010

There is no "double chin" exercise to target that one area for fat loss...

You will lose chin fat and any other fat on your body as you lose weight and you can't pick and choose where you'll lose weight from so...

Your chin fat may be the last or first to go

Hello Adrian, I gave birth 1 year ago. I was doing good by cutting out fast food, jogging 1 mile on the treadmill and eating strictly fruits and vegetables while at work and cutting my meals in half for dinner. I did this every single day for a whole month and lost 10lbs. However, I stopped exercising and picked up old eating habits and gained it all back. Now my son is older and I can't go to the gym everyday. I did have success losing weight that way but it seems like so much to do right now and I cook for a family so it is kind of hard for me to eat only weight loss foods. Do you have any suggestions for me? I am 5'3 and 165 lbs. I weighed 145 before the baby and about a year before that I weighed 130. Could you please give me a simple (I know it probably won't be easy) way I could get back to at least 135 and keep it off? I have also heard of calorie shifting, but it seems to difficult to keep track, and to have menus generated costs money.

I never heard of it but using excess estrogen or whatever "food" techniques make you increase estrogen will only make you store body fat in your hips because that's were women store fat ususally and that's the "theory" that book is probably based on but...

At your weight - it is possible for you to lose that much per week if you follow the 8 EZ rules here + exercise but...

Just focus on gradually losing weight and even if you only lose 1-to-3 pounds a week (THAT's OKAY)- that means you're getting skinnier & skinnier

First of all - go here and look at this height weight chart...

At 140lbs. & 5'10" you're at your ideal weight already and you already look good The height weight chart says you should be between 135-to-160 pounds and you're trying to get down to 129 pounds - I'm not saying it isn't possible for you...

But to lose more weight - you're just going to have to keep working hard like you've been but if I were you...

I'd be more than happy with my weight but if you still want to lose more weight...

I suggest taking your protein up to 40-to-50% and eat more Raw veggies and...

What exactly are you doing for HIT?

Try doing a different HIT routine, Do 2 HIT routines a day (Once in morning & evening), Try doing them longer - Refer to #1-thru-5 here but like I said...

Hi Adrian,
Happy New Years. In response to your questions: My current weight is 140lbs. I am 5'10". I have been at this weight loss plateau for a month now. This is one of the reason that I incorporated HIIT. This is the beginning of my third week on HIIT. Today when I jumped on the scale and checked my measurements, there were NO-ZERO changes. I am not sure about the "sexy muscle" you mentioned unless the workout is still turning fat into muscle inside the muscle. My ideal weight is 129. I seem to perform much better at this weight and my pressure is more in control without the use of drugs. I have also cleaned up my diet even further and incorporate weight training. This is so frustrating because I really have been working hard. I have a pair shape so much of my toning is needed in the upper high/hip area. I know you can not target train so therefore I know cardio is the key to toning. Whatever you can suggest/direct/recommend,I am at your mercy. I have worked to hard to throw in the towel. I have to continue to push but I am frustrated because I appear to be pushing in the wrong direction.

Hi Adrian,
I always use your site for reference. Thank you for the information. I must admit I am a bit frustrated. I am not seeing any changes in my body either measurements or weight. I am 40 years old. My daily calorie intake is about 1300 per day. I burned approx 500 calories in exercise per daily. About two weeks ago I started on the HIIT training. I am seeing great cardio results from HIIT but nothing else. My intake precentage breakdown is 45 Carbs,35 protein and 20 Fat. I take a multivitiam. I eat plenty of fiber. I am tracking everything that I put in my mouth. I do have HBP so I am on a diuretic. I drink a lot of water but I am sure I probably need to drink even more. I am not sure what else I can do. I do not take any fatburner due to my pressure. I take a multivitamin and Omega 3 everyday. Adrian what can be wrong? Please help me I am so frustrated. I feel as if I have started to gain weight since I changed my exercise regiment. I was hopefully to see some results by now not gain weight. Thanks for any direction you can provide.

Mia,

The only thing you can do to make any muscle shrink (like your calves) is to not use that muscle and hope it atrophies or shrinks so in your case...

The only thing you can do is not exercise your calves or stay off your feet hoping they shrink but i wouldn't get that extreme...

I would be absolutely happy with my body if not for my huge calves (they are 14 inches in the widest point, so I can hardly fit in any boots)...The problem is genetic; there is almost no fat on them, just muscles that, by the way, are very flabby...

Are there any exercises that will help in my situation; I would like to loose for about an inch...

There's not much you can do "during" pregnancy but don't worry because...

You can quickly lose it after you give birth - Just look at how celebrities lose weight after having their babies

There's nothing wrong but if your goal is to increase the number of push-ups you do...

*You can do less than 15 reps with add weight/resistance by wearing a bookbag with weights and this will make your stronger an it'll improve muscle endurance or...

*You can take a BREAK if you've been doing them everyday - you could take 5-to-10 days off and see if your endurance improves or...

*You can do these chest & arm exercises here to increase the number of push-ups you can do

Hi,
I have been doing wide push ups for about 4 months almost daily.. In the beginning, i started with 10 reps everyday and then up to 20 reps these days. last week i tried to make it 25 reps but i really feel its hard for me. I cant exceed 23, even though I have been doing 20 reps for almost a month.

is it nrmal or there is something wrong?
I'm 20 years old, height 168cm weight 70kg ..

If someone were going to colon cleanse I recommend they stick to weight loss foods (mainly raw fruits & veggies) + water to colon cleanse without supplements but...

Everything looks fine but I would eat all your Daily calories of 1200-1600 and divide it evenly among 5 meals and eat every 3 hours starting at 8am and if this isn't an option...

I still wouldn't eat the big meal for dinner and I would rather you eat the big 500 calorie meal for breakfast instead to give you maximize daily energy and fight cravings and...

It's okay to cheat but please see how to cheat and still lose weight and...

Hey Adrian,

I am 30 years old African American woman. I am 4'9" and 235 lbs. I need some help with my weightloss plan. Currently, I have lost 25 lbs. However, I was not consistent due to issues in my life so it took longer than what I expected. Currently, I workout 3-5 times a week in the morning.I eat 5 small meals a day roughly between 1200-1600 calories a day. I love my curves. I just want to tone it down. I have a large hourglass shape. I dont want to lose my curves. I enjoy being thick just also want to be healthy and in shape. In saying all of that, I plan on adjusting and adding on to what I am already doing. So here is my plan for 2009:

My Diet
Still going to eat 5 small meals per day

Breakfast @ 8AM, BW 200-300 cals
Snack @10AM, BW 100-150 cals
Lunch @ 1PM, BW 300-4000 cals
Snack @ 4PM, BW 100-150 cals
Dinner @ 7PM, BW 500-600 cals
Daily calories bw 1200-1600
Drink bw 70oz-128oz
One cheat meal on Sat and Sun

If you eat right (I need your height & weight to tell you exactly how but...) and do 3-to-4 days per week of high intense cardio...

You'll lose mainly FAT & that's what you want to happen and question you need to ask yourself is...

Will losing FAT make me look skinny? and...

Losing muscle and FAT by eating wrong (which basically means starving yourself) and doing insane amounts of cardio will more than likely lead to looking sick or anorexic and for your stomach...

I sure the "Body Sculpting for a sexy midsection" here will solve your problem

I absolutely love your site! now my problem is my stomach.....i've always been a very thin girl and i was always called skinny in school. well, i've had 4 kids and i'm still small but my stomach area is big, i still look 7 months pregnant and i know i'll never have a flat stomach again but i would like to think i should be able to get it to go down some. i currently weigh 130 and i want to build muscle in my legs and arms but lose fat in stomach which i know you can't spot reduce so my question is, will i get too skinny by doing mostly cardio to try and get stomach smaller? i don't want to look anorexic!
