I recently get addicted to the roasted wasabi green peas and peanuts, green mustard coated horsebeans and rice crackers, is it ok to eat them while on a diet plan? I looked at the nutrition label, it has 110 calorie per 28g. Total fat is 2g.

Basically - any food that doesnt cause an extreme rise in insulin is a good weight loss food

Gaining FAT is due in part to the hormone insulin and overeating and...

eating sugars, snacks and processed foods cause extreme rises in insulin because the insulin has to put the excess SIMPLE carbs/sugars from snacks somwhere and so it stores it as fat.

The more complex the carbs or lower GI like you said prevents insulin or keeps it in check preventing fat gain and basically...

If you ate more complex or low gi foods then you can really lose weight without counting cals but...

You'll get full eating so quick by eating healthy - you wont overeat either so YES...

Potatoes are fine but NOT PROCESSED potato chips or pringles

I was looking at the list of weight loss foods and i was surprised to see potatoes listed. I thought that potatoes, while very healthy, were not suited to weight loss because of their high glycemic index. But i looked on the internet and i saw that some places recommended them as well. Can you explain to me why potatoes can be a good weight loss food?

Protein, Whey Protein or any protein will not help you gain muscle mass unless you eat MORE and lift weights to gain muscle.

If you are not lifting HEavy weights and doing low reps + eating more then you won't gain a lot of mass and...

If you're on a weight loss diet - it's going to be hard for your body to create lots of huge muscles while on a calorie restricted diet

You can still eat it and if you are still hungry/not full afterwards...

eat lots of raw veggies (and dont count the veggie calories) to get full and add some oatmeal or other complex carbs to fill you up and of course...

Drink about a liter of water around your meal to get satisfied quick

I looked at the 51 high protenin, low fat food list and see that seafood/salmon are part of it. However, when i check the calorie for a salmon fillet for instance, its calorie is really high though. Even if i eat only 2 oz, that already takes up more than half of my 210 calorie per meal quota. And 2oz of fish is just a very small portion that won't make me full. If that's the case, is it still good to eat that?

Hi Adrian,
I'm very frustrated about the eating the weight loss food. I cut down white bread and grab a multigrain bagel which i think is low calorie and it's multigrain. However, i checked that just one bagel has 360 calorie and the fat calorie is 45. That's just a little bit better than a butter croissant. Should i continue eating that bagel considered that I can only consume up to 1200 calorie a day for my weight loss program. Thanks. Anita

Im 24 about to be 25yrs old. Im only 5'2 and I weigh about 230lbs.I have two children. One is 4 yrs old and the other is 7 months and both were by cesarean. At the beginning of my 2nd pregnancy I was 209 and thats because I was starting to diet. During my prenancy I only gained 15lbs. But for some reason Ive gained weight after my c-section. Make sure you DO FOLLOW the calorie recommendations and as long as you try to or come close to your protein requirements - you're okay but...

Hi!

I'm 18 years old and about 5'9 and weigh abou 56 kg. Thats somhow supposed to be a good weight but its actually not.
I may not weigh much but I really have some serious problem areas.
I have soo much fat stored at my stomache that I really feel ashamed for it. Plus I'm over all very flabby and untrained. ( my belly never disappeared completly even in the time where I did tae bo every second day ... I REALLY want a great stomache!)
The thing is: I broke my knee 2 years ago and its still kinda enflamed on the inside.
But it should be okay by now. I had to take a break because of that for like 6 months now and now I'm really out of shape and looking for something I can do at home.
Plus the doc said I have to build muscle and I want to!

At your current weight you may be pretty close already to 10% so in your case...

Adrian, I am doing this biggest loser thing at work and want to try and lose 24 lbs in then next two months. I am not big on vegetables but like apples, bananas, and grapes. I am a big pizza fanatic. Is there a plan for me to eat healthier and maybe a healthier homemade pizza recipe.

I don't know if you can help me - I'm trying to lose weight so that I can drop a weight category in a Judo competition on the 21st Feb.

I am currently at 56kg, which is fine; but training begins next week. We have technique/fighting training four times a week, which usually takes my weight up to around 59, 60kg. This will put me right at the bottom of my weight category and mean that I have to fight people heavier than me and potentially a higher grade than me - if I can stay the same weight now, I will be one of the heaviest and one of the highest grades, because of the way the competition system works.

So basically, I'm wondering how I can exercise so much, gain a lot of muscle (essential if I'm going to do well at the comp. - can't cut back on training) and still maintain this weight. Last time, I lived for the month before on just brown rice and steamed veg, but it wasn't enough. I don't want to do anything too extreme though as I need enough energy to train and fight!
I'm also vegetarian.

As far as weight loss goes... it doens't matter whether or not you eat before or after exercise.

Weight loss is about how MUCH you eat and how much you exercise but...

eating before a workout will give you more energy if you need it to finish the workout and...

I've been a raw foodist for two years and even did a water fast for a month last year but I cannot lose weight. (After the month water fast, I lost 9 lbs only... over the past two years I have lost 25 lbs but that was really only the first year. This past year I've stayed completely stable weight-wise.)

I am at a complete loss as to what is wrong. Currently, I am 5'0" and 155 lbs. I've been to doctors and they say I'm completely healthy. I was convinced my thyroid was going awry but it passed the test, too. After 6 different doctors and NOTHING coming back abnormal, I'm frustrated.

Any ideas?

I am 35 and so glad I came across you. I have followed your steps as much as I possibly can and in just four days, I lost almost 4 lbs. Better than anything I have tried. I do stay kinda hungry and crave some bad things. Although, I resist! How can I stop so that I can stick to this plan? HEY VINNY

If you want abs you haffta do exercises that work those abdominals. Don't just do 200 crunched, that won't work. Do like 4-5 different exercises for your abs. 3 sets each, 10-30 reps per set and group your exercises together like so, do 2 exercises back to back and rest once both exercises have 1 set completed. After resting, then do your second set of both those exercises again. Then rest and proceed with your 3rd set. This type of ab routine is absolutely grueling for the first week or two, but it gets much easier once you've taught your body to cope with it. Work your abs 5 out of 7 days of the week and no more then 3 days in a row, and never work them out when they are really sore. You'll get to the point where you can do em every day, it's just hard to get started. I went from a big belly to a ripped 6 pack in 10 weeks.

before I give you any advice - I think you'll benefit much more by asking your coaches & the atheltic trainers what's the best training goals you should go after in preparation for football and if they suggest you get bigger, stronger, and faster + lose fat but can't really give you any direction...

Hi, in the last year I lost well over 40 pounds just by cutting out sugar, fast foods, & increasing my vegetable & fruit intake. The problem for me is that i don't even eat that much and I try to eat healthy food most of the time. However, I have problems with my hormone and it is really hard for me to loose weight.I used to be 55 kilos and now Im 78. When I work out my muscles build up but the fat is not leaving, so that makes me look even bigger. I tried some personal trainers but I dont think they seem to understand what my body needed. I have a very curve body and with some exercises some parts of my body start standing out even more and that makes it too much.

You can still eat normally but in your case...

You would have to reverse your eating schedule from that of a normal person who has a day job so for example for you...

9:30pm would be your breakfast
12:30 would be meal #2
3:30am would be meal #3
6:30 am would be meal #4
9:30am would be last meal

and you would of course fit in some time to exercise.

You may want to try this weight loss plan or if you're still confused - Just look at the best way to lose weight

Hello your site is phenominal, motivating and informative. My question is, is it okay to eat lean cusine meals? I do not purchase the ones with high fructose corn syrup. It is easy for the portion control and packing my lunch for work. I also have my oatmeal, cottage cheese, raw nuts vegetables, ice cold water, lean meats, fish no sweets etc. I will not eat the other frozen dinners are lean cuisines different? If you're trying to lose weight then forget about iced tea and Drink green tea instead to burn fat and I would try to drink at least 70 ounces of ice cold water everyday and as far as milk goes...

It's dairy products like milk, cheese, and yougurt that help you lose weight and you don't need to JUST drink milk or go crazy & eat dairy products - Just use them as part of your weight loss diet.
